Stavanger, one of Norway's larger cities, is one of the major hubs for some of Norway's most impressive and famous hiking adventures: Preikestolen and Kjerag. Although these are two "must-see" adventures in Norway, they are just the tip of the iceberg.
Around Stavanger, you have a variety of landscape that one would not expect to find, albeit in Norway. You have the opportunity to explore the unprotected coastline, wild islands, and the famous fjord country.
Just a few minutes south of Stavanger, along the western coast, you will see some of the most exquisite beaches, like Solastranda, which are perfect for a stroll or some surfing. Further south, you can explore remnants of World War II bunkers and walk along ancient roads like Kongevegen over Jæren.
Explore the rural islands like Rennesøy or travel into the fjord country to hike the impressive mountains like Gryteknuten and Reinaknuten. Climb the 4444 stairs from Lysefjorden fjord to the mountaintop at Flørli or stay in the modern Skåpet cabins up on the plateau. All in all, the adventures are endless surrounding Stavanger!
