Hiking Rondane from Høvringen

Høvringen is one of the two most used entry points for Rondane National Park. Mysusæter is an easier entry point if you want to hike to one of the many peaks in the area.

Høvringen has lots of different accommodation options. There is also a small convenience store open all days during summer, but limited openings the rest of the year.

At Høvringen you can also drive to Smuksjøseter Fjellstue which is closer to the main mountain peaks in the area. Driving there costs 40 NOK and you can pay by credit card at Smuksjøseter.

Getting There

Car
While driving along the main road E6 in the Gudbrandsdalen valley look for the sign to Høvringen about a 15-minute drive north of Otta. From the main road, there is a 6 km drive up to a fork in the road just before you reach Høvringen. Bear right at this junction and continue on for one more kilometer. You will see the sign for Putten Seter and shortly after a large parking lot(40 NOK per day, only cash) on your right-hand side.

You can also park at the convenience store for 40 NOK per day.

Public Transport
Get to Otta by taking the train from Oslo or Trondheim. From Otta there is a local bus going up to Høvringen.
