9 Beaches in Oslo

The short Oslo summer sees people flock to the many small beaches located in and around the city. It’s one of the most popular summer activities. Most of the best beaches lie along the Oslofjord and can be reached with just a quick walk from the city or a short ride on public transport. Picnic like a Norwegian, find your new oasis, and enjoy a beautiful summer’s day relaxing by the water.

If you don’t have much time, and you are in the city center take a dip into the fjord at Sørenga Sjøbad or Tjuvholmen Beach. Both beaches are surrounded by excellent restaurants, and have incredible views of the city! These two are particularly family friendly with low areas for wading.

If you have the entire afternoon to spare, explore the calm and picturesque Hvervenbukta or Ingierstrand Beach, which are located southeast of the city but are still only a 20-minute bus ride away.

Bygdøy, the city island has many popular museums to visit in the morning with beaches to relax on in the afternoon. It also is home to Huk Naturalist Beach, Oslo’s only nudist beach.
