Om Hornøya Island
Hørnøya Island is the easternmost point of Norway. Part of a nature reserve with the neighbouring Reinøya Island, each summer Hornøya is home to 80,000 seabirds. Even with its extreme location the island is easily reached from Vardø.
Puffins, guillemots, gulls, falcons, eagles, and eiders are just some of the different species present on Hornøya. It is truly a birdwatcher’s paradise and there is a hide available. A marked trail leads from the dock to the lighthouse.
Hornøya has a delicate and protected ecosystem. Stay within the marked path and leave the nature undisturbed. Reinøya Island is closed to the public.
