Om Reiret

Reiret(the nest) is a small hut used the by the Norwegian resistance during World War 2. In 1944 the hut was the resistance's headquarter in the Gudbrandsdalen valley. It was important that it could not be found by the Germans and even today you can stand on the roof of the hut without realizing it is there.

Note that if you want to go inside the hut you need to borrow a key from the tourist office in Otta

Veibeskrivelse

About 4 km north of the city Otta you will find a road on your right-hand side when going northwards with a white sign to Kvitskruiprestene and Reiret. Continue straight on this road for about 1 km and take the road on your left-hand side before the toll booth. Go on for about 5.5 km and park along the road where the sign to Reiret shows you the trailhead.

Turbeskrivelse

From the trailhead, the trail is easy to follow through the fairly light pine forest. When reaching Reiret you might not see it at first until you pass it and you will see the door into the hut.

Faktaopplysninger

  • The last part of the road up to Reiret is a paid road. It costs 40 NOK and you need to pay by credit card.
