Explore this majestic mountain and the highest peak on the eastern side of Vestvågøy: Justadtind. From the top at 738 meters above sea level, you’ll get a 360-degree view over western Lofoten, and the beautiful Norwegian shoreline as well as an excellent perspective of Landegode island.
The town of Leknes can be accessed by E10. From Leknes, drive on Road 815 towards Stamsund. The parking lot is located about 4km from the intersection of E10 and Road 815. If you begin driving downhill, you've gone too far. The parking lot at Hagskaret is quite large.
From Leknes take bus 18-767 towards "Stamsund". Ask the bus driver to let you off at "Hagskaret", a large building at the top of the pass. To plan your public transport journey, visit En-Tur.
From the parking lot, start hiking on the gravel road towards the radio tower in the north. Upon reaching the path that leads to the radio tower, continue hiking on the same trail. In other words, don't turn. The trail will narrow, and sections of it will be made of boardwalk, covering the muddy areas of the trail.
The trail gradually increases in altitude. The more altitude you gain, the more views you’ll get of Leknes and the surrounding mountains to the south. There are other trail intersections, but continue to keep right (east). Near the top of the mountain, there is a rocky plateau, and you will descend through a marsh before reaching an area requiring you to scramble. The rocky section, located about two hours along the hike, is quite short, but remember to be aware of your footing.
- Free parking
- Water from streams available throughout the route (no water available at the top)
- Many places for camping along the route mostly flat and dry
