Om Atlanterhavsveien

The Atlantic Road is one of the most famous roads in the world that winds gracefully from island to island across seven brides over the Atlantic Ocean on the western part of Norway. This architectural feat is simply breathtaking. From calm days at sea where the sun is shining, to storm watching as the aggressive ocean waves crash over the highway, the Atlantic Ocean Road is something to experience.

Veibeskrivelse

The Atlantic Road connects the island of Averøy with the mainland via a series of small islands. The road is connected to Molde and Kristiansund, two of Norway’s most characteristic cities by the sea.

From Kristiansund: Take road 64 south and drive through Atlanterhavstunellen. Continue for about 25 km until you reach the intersection in Averøy with national scenic route signs to Atlanterhavsveien.

From Molde: Follow road 64 north towards Vevang. Follow road 64 for about 45 km and head east in Vevang. Continue for about 2km.

Turbeskrivelse

The total route goes from Kårvåg to Bud and is 36 km in length total. If you go by bike, it’s easy to take a ferry back to your starting point at Kristiansund or Molde, check out hurtigruten for more info about timetables and fares. For the thrill-seekers, bring your mountain bike to Melen or just your hiking boots for a nice hike. Pack a lunch and picnic along the way, take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean or bring your fishing gear. The weather can be dramatic at the oceans edge, so be sure to dress properly.
