Stand under the mighty Troll Wall
- Destinasjon: Romsdalen
- Sesong: januar-desember
One of the most iconic Norwegian landmarks, Trollveggen is the tallest vertical rock face in Europe. As you’re standing at the base it’s difficult to comprehend that the wall reaches up 1,100 metres into the sky. Trollveggen is part of Reinheimen National Park.
It’s possible to hike to Stabbeskaret, a point between two of the Trollveggen peaks, from the back side. The trail begins at Trollstigen. Alternatively, take the drive around to the Vengedalen Valley and hike up to Litlefjellet to see Trollveggen from the other side of the valley.
- The Rauma River runs along the base of the wall. Check out Eiafossen for an easy loop hike along the river.
- Formerly a popular location for BASE jumping, it is now illegal to jump from Trollveggen. Even though the sheer cliff makes it a good location in terms of performing a safe jump, potential rescue missions are very dangerous.
- Serious climbers occasionally take on the challenge of climbing Trollveggen and there are various routes used to reach the top.
The Trollveggen visitor center is open between June 1st and August 31st and has the following facilities:
- Souvenir shop
- Free parking
There are several hotels, lodges, and campgrounds in and around Åndalsnes.
