Om Okolehao Trail
Hike up to Okolehao peak and get a spectacular view of Hanalei Bay. Enjoy Norfolk Pine trees and wild Orchids on your way up to the peak.
From Lihue, take Kuhio Highway (56) to Hanalei. Just after crossing Princeville, drive across a one-way bridge and then go left immediately after the bridge. Continue for 1.2 kilometers and you will find a parking lot on the left side of the road.
From Hanalei, take Kuhio Highway (56) to Princeville. Just before Princeville, head right just before a one-way bridge. Continue for 1.2 kilometers and you will find a parking lot on the left side of the road.
On the island, it is wise to rent a car. The public bus does not run often and drives only between the larger towns on the highway.
The trail is well marked and starts on the other side of the road from the parking lot. The entire trail is quite steep but the first 100-meter climb is especially steep. There are two plateaus along the trail that serves as natural places to stop an take in the views.
Along the trail, there are a lot of Norfolk Pine trees, wild Orchids and other beautiful vegetation. Halfway up the trail, you will already have beautiful views of Hanalei Bay and the surroundings. At the peak, there is a small wooden bench you can sit on and enjoy the view.

You can choose from one of the many hotels on Kauai. The island is not big, the maximum distance you can travel is two hours, one way.
The island also has several camping pitches. The closest ones can be found around Anahola Beach Park. You need to obtain a permit in Linue to stay at this campsite.
