Starting from Femund Canoe Camp, paddle west down the Sorka River. The Sorka River leads into the first lake, Lake Femunden. You’ll then paddle towards the southwest end of the lake. Femundtunet is located at the very tip of the lake. You can take a break here or even spend a night in one of their cabins or at one of their campsites.
Continue heading west by paddling between the small island located there. Soon the water narrows in, requiring you to portage overland to Lake Isteren. This requires hiking about 4 km on a tarmac road with the canoe, it’s highly suggested that you rent a canoe trolley, which will make this part of the trip much easier.
After portaging over land, you’ll arrive at Tømmervika, the starting point of your canoeing adventure on Lake Isteren. Spend a few more hours canoeing or set up camp along the shores.
Alternatively, you can start your trip directly to Lake Isteren, with Tømmervika as the starting point.
