Det vi skal gjøre

Kongevegen will give you a great taste of what this amazing area can offer. Exploring Kongevegen from Filefjellstuene gives you the possibility to get in touch with the fjords, the mountains, eating local food, and learning about local culture.

We will take you on a journey to experience two of the best sections of the route. From Filefjellstuene, we use organized transport to get to the different starting points. The first day, we’ll drop you off at Kyrkjestølen, where you’ll then hike over Filefjell to Maristuen. Day two is all about the most famous part of the route. The “drop off” is at the Borgund stave church, and the hike will let you explore Vindhellavegen and Sverrestigen.

The hiking will follow a wide packed gravel and soft forest trails with overgrown grass.

The self-guided adventure is delivered by Tyin Aktiv and everything will be organized from the mountain lodge at Filefjell.

Filefjell is located in the middle of southern Norway, easily accessible from either Bergen or Oslo. The mountain roads Sognefjellsvegen and Valdresflye are perfect entry points to Filefjell. The roads are closed from November to April due to snow. Road E16 over Filefjell is another alternative, being open all year round. Check with Norwegian Scenic Routes to ensure the roads are open, especially if there are harsh conditions.

There is no train leading directly to Filefjell, but you can take the NSB Dovrebanen line from Oslo to Otta. From Otta you can rent a car with Hertz. Nabobil is always a great option for getting around in Norway as well, if you have a scandinavian drivers licence. Be sure to add the discount code “outtt” to save NOK 250,- on your rental.

From Oslo, take Valdresekspressen. The journey from Oslo to Filefjell takes around 4.5 hours. Note that some of the journies will have a transfer at Fagernes.

From Bergen, the journey is a direct, 4-hour trip. The bus leaves from Bergen central bus station once a day.
