Det vi skal gjøre
The day starts off with a beautiful bus ride that takes you through the gorgeous Valdres region on your way to Beitostølen. Imagine frozen lakes and snow-covered landscape dotted with cute traditional houses. You’ll be met at the bus stop and taken to our kennel in Beito, where you will get acquainted with the dogs which will be part of your team for the rest of the day. You will be able to interact with these amazing dogs, their happy eyes, wagging tails, and fast legs.
We will start by getting the dogs ready. You will learn how to put harnesses on the dogs, learn where to correctly place them in the team, and also learn some tricks for your trip. It is not before you say the first “GO” that you get to feel the tremendous power found in a team of huskies.
An experienced guide will lead the first team and the rest will follow by instinct along the entire trail throughout the beautiful terrain. After the trip, or along the way if possible, we will prepare a traditional Norwegian meal to share. This is your chance to ask us all about huskies, dog sledding, and the Norwegian nature. At the end of the day we’ll take you back to the bus stop so you can return to Oslo.
The sleds are equipped with a seat in the front. Normally two people will share a sled and change positions. Small children can sit in the front together with an adult. No previous experience is necessary, but average fitness is required to steer the sled. If you don't wish to steer the huskies, just let us know in advance and you can simply relax and enjoy the ride.
Our tour leaders and “mushers” are skilled and experienced nature guides, committed to providing a fun, green, and safe adventure.
