Om Brandywine Meadows
The hike up to Brandywine Meadows is fairly short, but a very tough hike. As the hike is not the most popular hike in the area there is a chance you can get to these beautiful meadows without meeting too many other hikers.
During summer the meadows can be covered with colorful flowers.
It is possible to camp up there too, but there are no facilities so bring all the gear you need for an overnight stay.
From Whistler follow the Sea to Sky Highway for 14 kilometers towards Squamish. Take a right onto Callaghan Road and follow this road for 1 km. Take a left and bear left by the Waste Transfer Station.
Continue on the gravel road through the parking lot area and immediately after continue on the Brandywine Forestry Service Road. Stay on this road another 4 kilometers until you reach a junction with a sign saying 2 kilometers to the lower parking lot and 5 kilometers to the upper parking lot.
Make sure you go straight here towards the lower parking lot. Go on for another 2 kilometers until you see a wooden BC Parks sign on your right-hand side indicating the start of the trail.
Note that the gravel road is very rough and bumpy so expect to drive slowly up to the parking lot.
If you have a good 4x4 vehicle with high clearance it is possible to drive up to the upper parking lot. This will take you almost all the way up to the meadow itself.
From the lower parking lot follow the trail up the mountain throughout the forest. The trail is marked with orange markers all the way up to the meadow. The trail is at first following the creek closely but later it veers further into the forest.
After a while, you will reach a newly logged area on your right-hand side. Continue on the trail until you get to a trail junction. Make sure to take a left here as taking a right will lead you down to the upper parking lot.
Finally, you leave most of the forest behind and you reach the Brandywine Meadows.
- It is possible to extend the hike up to the Brandywine Mountain
- Expect to see snow at the meadows until mid-July
- No toilets along the trail
- Wild camping at Brandywine Meadows is permitted
