The trail to Ryten is a beautiful trail that overlooks the whole Fredvang area and Kvalvika Beach. On clear days you can even see the Reinefjord. The trail is characterized by Kvalvika, the shape of the waves that nicely hit the sand. If you stand on the summit and you look back to the beach, it's one of the most spectacular views of Lofoten. This hike connects with the hike to Kvalvika.
Just south of Ramberg on route E10, cross the two bridges over towards Fredvang.
Continue straight, and then take the first turn to the right. Park by the school, which is a couple of hundred meters up the road. Parking here is free, and helps keep the local roads from getting blocked up with parked cars.
From the parking lot, walk back down the road and turn to the right, following the road towards Yttersand. After 750 meters on this road, the trailhead will be on the left-hand side.
The trail is well-trodden and easy to follow. The beginning can be a little muddy but work is ongoing to add boardwalks.
After a kilometer a slight climb starts up, this consists of grass and rocks, but also mud. Note that it can be slippery. When the first plateau is reached, you reach two small lakes. Follow the trail up to the right. The first two kilometers of the trail is marked with red dots and easy to follow.
After a few hundred meters you will reach a larger lake. When you follow the left trail you come to Kvalvika Beach. But if you want to go to the summit, follow the right trail. From now on it is a slight climb to the lookout point over Kvalvika Beach and the summit of Ryten. It's easy to follow the trail up.
At the end of the road 806 on the way to Yttersand, you come to a junction. If you turn left, you will reach a farm at the end of the road. Here you can camp for a small fee.
