Ekebergparken is a 255-acre sculpture and national heritage park that’s perfect for hiking, running or even throwing a frisbee and playing football in the open green spaces.
In short, with its excellent views of the sea and proximity to downtown, it’s the perfect place to escape into nature. There are ample viewpoints on the hike and multiple trails amongst the dense old pine forest. It’s easy to forget you’re in a city! The artwork throughout the park is found in a variety of mediums from international artists.
This hike leads you to the Ekeberg stairs, which overlooks the Langøyene, Hovedøya and Gressholmen islands of the Oslofjord. Watching the sunset here is highly recommended (in the autumn).
Take tram 18 or 19, towards Ljabru, and get off at ”Oslo Hospital”.
Alternatively, you can cycle there using either your own bike or an Oslo Bysykkel (city bike). The city bike station is located adjacent to the tram stop and is called “Oslo Hospital”.
The dirt trails are wide enough for bikes and strollers. There are steep staircases in some parts of the park.
