Om Lysaker River
Take a hike through history as you hike along the entire Lysaker River. Begin the trip at the river's source, Bogstadvannet, situated at 145 m.a.s.l. and end the adventure at the mouth of theLysakerfjorden, which is part of Oslofjord. The Lysaker River has been used by several mills and manufacturing facilities, since the 12th century. In modern times, the river divides Oslo and Bærum municipalities.
There are several waterfalls and small rapids, but Granfossen is the most notable waterfall, situated near downtown Lysaker.
Public transportation is the easiest for this trip if you’re not taking a round trip. Take the T-bane to 'Røa', then transfer to Bus 32 and get off at 'Bogstad Camping'. You’ll start the trip a little south of Bogstadvannet.
Keep in mind, that you can also either start or end the trip in Jar. The path takes you right past the Jar T-bane stop.
Finish the trip at the sea, which is a 2 min. walk from Lysaker station.
This particular route begins conveniently at 'Bogstad Camping', but the route can be adapted to begin at Bogstadvannet. The path is hilly and varies in elevation, and is surrounded by a thick spruce forest throughout the trip.
There are plenty of spots to rest near the water before the river becomes farther from the trail at the end of the trip. Near the beginning of the river, there’s a gapahuk, a structure intended for temporary residence or for socializing.
There are also wooden swings before you reach Granfossen, the giant waterfall in Lysaker, near where the river meets the sea.
