Om Vottestadhøgda

This loop hike along Panoramavegen (Panoramic road) definitely lives up to its name. Enjoy incredible views of Mjøsa lake, Norway's largest lake, and Lillehammer to the east, along the route. Located just minutes from downtown Lillehammer, this hike is easily accessible and manageable for hikers of all skill levels.

Car

From Oslo, head north on road Rv4 and road E6 for 165 kilometers. Take exit 80 towards Vingnes/road 253. Follow road 253 towards Fåberg. Take the first left torwards Vingrom and then an immediate right turn onto Vingarvegen. Stay on this road for 1.2 kilometers until turning right onto Heimtunvegen. Continue for another half kilometer until turning left onto Saksumdalsvegen. Drive for another 1.8 kilometers until reaching Vottestadvegen road on your left. Park alongside the road and begin your adventure from here.  

Public Transportation

From Oslo, take the NSB train from Oslo S to Lillehammer train station. There are trains departing nearly every hour. Book your train ticket here

From Bergen, take the Øst-Vestekspressen bus to Lillehammer. Book your bus ticket with NOR-WAY Bussekspress here.

From the Lillehammer train station, there are local busses traveling nearly every hour up to the starting point of the hike. View bus times here.


Turbeskrivelse

From the starting point, the hike takes you south, up and down a gradual incline, along a private farm road for 3.5 kilometers. The trail then turns northwest and continues to increase in elevation for the next 1.5 kilometers. At this point, the trail stays relatively flat and then the final kilometer takes you downhill along a more public road back to the starting point.
