Sleep at a homey forest cabin
- Destinasjon: Oslo
- Sesong: januar–desember
Kikustua is a rustic cabin and café on the shore of Bear Lake in Nordmarka operated by Skiforeningen. You'll find the café stocked with hot/cold drinks, homemade cakes, fresh bakery, and sandwiches. There's plenty of space for lounging near the fire, in the dining area, or the picnic tables and benches overlooking the lake. Even if the café is closed, you're still in luck! There is a self-serve vending machine in a heated area with seating for 20, which is open all year long. Don't forget your coins!
Simply stop by during the day or spend the night in the cabin, which accommodates over 65 people. Be sure to check out the sauna, with views of the lake. A three-course dinner and breakfast are included in your stay. If you have lots of luggage, Kikutstua will pick it up from Søkedalen for a small fee.
Experience Kikustua's bi-annual art exhibitions of paintings, drawings, or photographs by local artists before exploring the outdoors again. Multi-day courses such as yoga are offered in addition to other activities. In the summer, swim or fish on the lake or even rent a canoe or kayak.
From Oslo city center, go to the 'Tollboden' bus stop and take bus 32 towards 'Voksen Skog' until 'Linhusveien'. At 'Linhusveien' transfer to bus 41 towards 'Sørkedalen' and get off at 'Sørkedalen Skole'. From there, follow the signs to Kikutstua. There are other access points including Hammeren, Hakadal, and Stryken, but Sørkedalen is the shortest route.
During the summer, there are toll roads from all access points.
