Om Hellostinden

Hellostinden is on Vestvågøy Island, more or less alongside Route E10. At a modest 573 meters in altitude, the peak is easily overlooked, but delivers impressive panoramic views.

From the top you can see practically all the peaks on Vestvågøy, as well as the mainland, Henningsvær, and Stamsund. The sea surrounds three sides.

The trail is accessible to most, although the trail can be hard to see in some parts. Some exposed parts can be found if you’re looking for it, but they are not required to reach the top. The view at the summit can be enjoyed from a small plateau.

Heading west on Route E10, the trailhead is on the left, about 7 kilometers from the bridge from Gimsøya Island.

There is parking available at Gamle Skola café.

From the parking lot at Gamle Skola café, follow the road towards Leknes for about 300 meters. Take a left on the gravel road leading you along the eastern side of Lyngedalsvannet Lake. At the trailhead, you will find a map of the hike up to Hellostinden.

Continue past the road barrier and after 200 meters take a right onto the bridge leading you across Lyngedalselva River. After another 400 meters along this trail, you should see bamboos sticks leading you in the right direction. Follow the trail up the first ridge up to Tuva and then a small descent before the trail heads up another ridge to Kvanndalsvatnet Lake.

The trail then heads up and over the shoulder on the western edge of the lake where there is a small plateau. Continuing southwest, you’ll reach the shoulder of Hellostinden. Turn southwest and follow the trail to the summit.
