Om Rennesøyhodnet

Enjoy an easy hike to Rennesøyhodnet on Rennesøy island in the Ryfylke Islands. Just a 30-minute drive from Stavanger, this hike is easy to access and child-friendly. Walk through the farmlands and small forest out to the vista, providing incredible views of the surrounding ocean and islands.

From Stavanger, drive north on E39 for 19 kilometers until you reach Rennesøy island. Take the exit for Vikevåg and continue following signs towards Vikevåg for nearly a kilometer.

As you enter the small village, take a left onto Daleveien towards Dale. After 2.3 kilometers, keep left onto Selsveien and drive up the hill for 800 meters until you arrive at the parking lot on the righthand side of the road.

The hike begins near Vikevåg in the Paradis residential area on the southwest side of the Rennesøy island. From the parking area, you will walk along a farm road for about 100 meters before arriving at the trail.

The trail takes you southeast along the ridgeline for nearly three kilometers until reaching your destination at Rennesøyhodnet. The trail does not have much elevation change. Once at the peak, you can either return along the same path or follow a different trail which takes you due north for about a kilometer and then due west back to the starting point.

  • Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times due to grazing animals
  • Remember to close gates as you pass through the farmland
  • The trail can be quite wet due to the marshland.

  • Public parking
