This steep hike proves you don’t have to go to the mountains to get a good hike in.
The hike up to Tekslehogget, a prominent landmark on the border between Rollag and Flesberg in Buskerud, is quite demanding, but short and worth the views at the top over Kittilsen and Skredsvig.
From the car park follow the forest road inland about 500 meters to where the trail turns left and then rises gradually but quite steep to Tekslehogget at 721 m. The hike is just less than 2 km one-way but tough due to the elevation.
There are some rocky sections, so hiking boots are recommended. Pack lots of water and a windbreaker. Although you might be warm on the way up, you’ll appreciate the jacket at the windy plateau.
This hike is suitable for those that are in quite good condition and are willing to take on the steep terrain.
Take the road up through Sigdal. In Sandsbråtan, at the southeast end of Soneren, you take off to the southwest on Road 134, following the signs to Flesberg and Halvorset camping. After about 10 km, turn right following the signs to Teksle and then turn right again right away (the road ends at Hovet Farm). Follow the road over a kilometer to a junction where a dirt road takes off towards the right and there is a small parking space marked Tekslehogget (worn plate). Park here.
