Det vi skal gjøre
We will have a short “go-through” before heading up to Hornindalsrokken, which will cover the level of difficulty and safety. It is a 7.5 km hike to the top, taking you through Sætredalen where you will pass a few old mountain farms and experience stories told by the guide. Sætredalen is a valley with high mountains on both sides providing a spectacular view of Hornindalsrokken.
Enjoy a short stop by the lake Store Luka before climbing the 1,529 m.a.s.l. to the peak of Hornindalsrokken. The hike includes tough ridges and difficult terrain. The hike is steep and you need to have a good head for heights and steep climbs to take part in the 8 hour journey.
You will be given first-hand knowledge about the Sunnmøre region, and taken to the best viewpoints to capture memorable photos.
After a well-deserved break at the cliff’s edge, your guide will lead you back down to Horndøla Mountain Camping. We recommend this modern yet cozy lodge as a place to stay overnight before and after your hike.

We'll meet up at our base in Stryn. Stryn is located north of Jostedalsbreen national park, accessible by car or bus from any of Norway's largest cities. The mountain roads Strynefjellsvegen and Sognefjellsvegen are perfect entry points to Stryn. Check the National Tourist Routes in Norway to ensure the roads are open, especially if there are harsh conditions.
If traveling along E6, head towards Stryn at Otta, then continue along road 15. If you have some spare time, you should check out gamle Strynefjellsvegen for a scenic break from main roads. Nabobil is always an option for getting around in Norway as well, if you have a Scandinavian drivers license. Be sure to add the discount code “outtt” to save NOK 250,- on your rental.
From Oslo take Nettbuss express NX146 to Stryn. The journey takes about 8 hours, but there are no transfers.
