While hiking to Gravolskampen, you'll get beautiful views the entire way. Towards the beginning of the trail, Heklefjellet and Bitihorn are found in the distance. And upon summiting, you can see Vinstre and Gausdalsfjella in the northeast as well as Jotunheimen National Park towards the northwest.
Gravolskampen is an easy climb and can be hiked by children as little as 3 to 4 years old.
From Beitostølen, follow road 51 North for approx. 6,5 km towards Båtskaret. There is a small parking area on the right-hand side by Båtskardstølane.
There are two options, however, it's important to note that the access road is only open during the summer. Båtskaret, where the trail begins, is located about halfway between the two closest official bus stops, "Beitostølen" and "Bygdin".
From Beitostølen take bus 602 towards Gjendesheim, and ask the driver to drop you off at "Båtskaret, Øystre Slidre". Use En-tur to plan the trip.
Another option is to take NW161 Valdresekspressen from Oslo or Beitostølen, and also ask the bus driver to drop you off at "Båtskaret, Øystre Slidre". Check out the other accessible adventures along the Valdresekspressen bus route, Valdresekspressen Pocket Guide.
The trail starts with a 100-meter increase before leveling out. About ten minutes into the hike, there will be a nice viewpoint of Mount Heklefjell. Continue hiking straight, on the moderately hilly, but mostly flat terrain, while enjoying views of Bitihorn in the distance.
There are many ponds to take a dip in, so bring a towel and swimsuit. Depending on the weather, there can be some muddy areas on the trail, but the majority of the trail can be easily hiked.
