Om Lembert Dome
This dome is surely worth your visit. The hike up to Lembert Dome is maybe not the most interesting the first kilometers, but it gets more and more interesting the closer you get to the dome.
The dome is pretty grand and if you are scared of heights you will maybe choose not to hike all the way to the top. But just getting up to the dome will give you a great feeling and amazing views of Yosemite National Park and Tuolumne Meadows.
The parking lot for the trailhead is a bit east of Tuolumne Meadows. Driving along Tioga Pass Road you need to drive to Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Center, but as continue past the wilderness center parking about 400 meters and you will see the parking lot on your left-hand side.
Find the trail on the northern end of the parking lot. There are no signs there to Lembert Dome, but you should find it easily. The trail climbs up and crosses the Tioga Road after about 100 meters.
After crossing the road the trail continues to climb upwards, zig-zagging its way up the hill. After about 700 metes the trail reaches the top of the hill and a trail junction where you can choose the trail to the right for Dog Lake and the trail to the left for Lembert Dome.
The trail continues to climb, but now much more gently than before and you start to see some open areas on your right-hand side. Continue on and eventually you reach the hill where you climb up to the dome. This hill is not particularly steep and you get great views from the top.
If you dare continue for about 200 meters on along the dome all the way to the top of the peak.
- Make sure you leave no food in your car as the bears may break into your car if they are hungry. There are beer containers in the parking lot where you can store your food.
- Free parking
- There is an outhouse at the trailhead or regular restrooms at the Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Center
