Granholmen: Padleled Vestfold

Padleled Vestfold is a paddling route along the coastline of Vestfold county from Svelvik in the north to Larvik in the south.

Granholmen is located on the western coast of Sandefjords’ fjord and is known for its beautiful summers, large grassy fields, and a fantastic beach. The island of Granholmen is a good starting point for kayaking tours among the many islets, shorelines, and charming bays. There are many possibilities here, especially if

you have time to explore. However, the fjord can be popular in the summertime so one needs to be aware of boat and ferry traffic.

At Granholmen, you will also find the headquarters of Sandefjord Kayak Club. The island acts as a recreational area and campsite in the summer, with a busy atmosphere full of tourists spending the day and even the night on the island. In comparison to the summer season, the rest of the year is calm and quiet but also is a perfect time to explore the coastline via kayak.

It is most convenient to launch kayaks at Sandefjord Kayak Club’s ramp. This is located 100 meters past the gate. At the kayak club, it is also possible to fill up with freshwater during the summer season. An alternative is to carry or roll kayaks out to the beach. There is a kiosk at the campsite during the summer season where you will also have access to public toilets. The nearest grocery store is located at the entrance to Granholmen island.
