Krøkle: Padleled Vestfold

Padleled Vestfold is a network of paddling routes located along the coastline of Vestfold county from Svelvik, in the north, to Larvik, in the south.

Krøkle recreational area, also known as Sydstranda and Sønstegård, is located on the southernmost point of Hvasser. The place is a popular swimming beach as well as a great starting point for trips on both land and water. From Krøkle, the open ocean is directly south but you can still find sheltered paddling routes nearby. Krøkle is also a popular area for windsurfing, as the wind is often strong.

At Krøkle you can drop off equipment and kayaks nearly at the water’s edge, but cars must be parked in the parking lot about 100 meters further up. Launching kayaks is most convenient on one of the beaches. Unfortunately, one does not have access to freshwater at Krøkle, so it is necessary to bring or purchase water before. There is an outhouse located east of the parking lot and the nearest grocery store is found in Sandøsund, about 2 kilometers northeast of Krøkle.
