About Skutshødn

Starting point: Sandalen. To get there you drive the Fv. 293 to Vennis and tak off at the sign indicating Sandalen. Toll road, 6.5 km. Parking right before the farms. Follow the signs from the parking lot down to the bridge over the creek Leineåne.Continue in south-west direction, quite steeply uphill until you cross a wider stream up under the steep mountain. You tuen towards the south, first through scree, then up an incline to the cairn on a large rock. From here you can either go up to the northwest toward a cairn in direction of the horizon, then south to the top or you'll continue upward steeply to the southwest. Go by the peak of 1615 meters above sea level and on to the east bank of the pond until the highest peak 1630 meters above sea level. If you keep going for about 30 minutes you arrive at the outermost point where you have the finest view.

Alternative tour. (Unmarked)
This hike is not as steep, but it is longer. You follow the path up the valley on the east side of the creek Leineåne to the creek from Nedre Nordlandstjernet (1297 meters above sea level). Climb up along the northern side of the creek and walk by this right before the outlet of the Nordlandstjernet pond. Go straight south past the pond at 1356 meters above sea level, turn southeast, past point 1472 and 1615 meters above sea level. Continue like the walk over.
