About Svarthøtta

Svarthøtta is a pinnacle in the middle of Trollheimen, where the borders between three counties meet: Oppdal, Rennebu and Rindal. The view is a breathetaking panorama over large parts of Trollheimen.

The trip starts by following ski tracks in toward Minnilldalsmyran. Turn off the tracks at Gråbekken. Continue up the ridge to Søndre and Nordre Kjølen. Go up through the valley between the two. From there you’ll need to go down a bit again before reaching the relatively steep northeast ridge, and after that the north ridge to Svarthøtta.

Return the same way as you came.

Getting there:
From the Oppdal town centre drive 7 km west on Riksveien 70. Exit at Vognill and continue north along Fylkesveien 512/Nerskogsveien. Right after the county border Oppdal-Rennebu you’ll turn into Søråsveien. Follow this road about 1 km until the parking lot at Sørøyåsen (parking fee).

Estimated duration is one way.
