About Søndre Knutshø
Søndre Knutshø is one of the greatest and most easily accessible summits in Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park. From the top you will have a gorgeous view of most of Dovrefjell mountain range.
It is located in what is regarded as the most botanically rich and diverse area in Northern Europe. There is also a multitude of animals that are rare in other areas, but you may not see as many in the winter time. The trip is conveniently located at the very popular entry point, Kongsvold. Kongsvold Fjeldstue, Kongsvold Mountain Lodge, has traditions that date back till the 12th century. It’s best known as a stop along the way for pilgrims traveling to the grave ofSt. Olav and St. Olav’s kilde (source of holy water).
Park at the Kongsvold Fjeldstue, which is located directly on E6.
This adventure is unique in that it has its very own train station, Kongsvoll Station. Consult the NSB timetable for the timetable.
Start the trip at the historic Kongsvold Lodge. The first stretch follows a clear ski track towards Blesebekken. From there, follow the creek up the hillside towards the valley between the middle and south of Knuthø. Turn from there towards Søndre Knutshø and tackle the last climb towards the top.
