About «Hjortejakt» på Vennis

The deer is a relatively new species in Vang nature. In recent times, the first deer was shot on Hagastrønde during the war. Since then the stock has picked up gradually and Vang now has a large and powerful deer tribe, and deer are common in most forested terrain below the treeline. In the time between 2006-2013 on average 52 deer were shot yearly in Vang.

For those who want to experience the deer up close, the best option is probably on the infields at twilight. But if you take the time it is also possible to get closer to it. Especially in Vennis the chances are good if you sit in the right place, with the wind against you, and ready to be quiet. On Vennis there is lush deciduous forests, classic pine forests and steep terrain - perfect for deer.
