About Den Bergenske Kongevegen over Tonsåsen
The Bruflat-Tonsåsen stretch of the historic main old road from 1793 for horse and cart, that led from Oslo to Bergen, is a nice one-day hike. Park your car in the center of Bruflat. (If possible, drive two cars and park one by the Tonsbakken, along county road 33, where the route ends up).
From Bruflat, follow the road towards Fjellsbygde. The path continues uphill, and crosses the road a few times, before you pass by the old Breie power station. From there the path leads into the forest. There are several information boards along the route. The hike ends where the main old road meets county road 33 at Tonsbakken.
You can also take public bus transportation from Tonsbakken til Tonsåsen, and walk the last section back to Bruflat. Remember to check the bus schedule ahead of time.
