About Vennisfjellet

Vennisfjell is located north of Vangsmjøsa between Rysndalen and Herredalen. It is the highest point in the area and a widely used hiking destination in both summer and winter. You have first class vews over the peaks in Jotunheimen. In order to get a good view of Vang, you have to go further south to the peak at 1706 meters above sea level. South of this peak is the field with patterned ground. You will find the rest of the way on your own. Many paths lead to the top 1. From Rysndalen on marked trail over Mjellknapp. Unmarked on from Mjelknapp to Vennisfjell. 2. From Knappetjednet straight north. Walking timeroundtrip from Remmisåsen is 6-8 h. Marked to Knappetjedn. 3. From Sandal. Walking time up: 2½ - 3 hours. Thepath is marked to Vardefjellet.
