Ramshøgda Hiking Trail
Hiking to the top
- Destination: Venabygdsfjellet
- Season: June-October
- Difficulty: Medium
- Distance: 9.2 kilometers (out‑and‑back)
- Elevation Gain: 410 meters
- Duration: 3-5 hours
Store Ramshøgda is located in Stor-Elvdal and is one of the highest peaks on Venabygdsfjellet, which is easy to reach in a few hours.
Drive car in FV 27, past Muen, and stop at the parking lot on the left after Muvatn, and on the border to Hedmark county.
From the parking lot, you enter the gravel road to Ramshytta at the end of the road. In there you can also cycle, or stroll by stroller. Then follow the T-marked path up steep hill with the marked cliffs, Ramstindan, to the left. At the top of the plateau, turn right on the unmarked path to the top of Ramshøgda (1,463 meters) with nice views. Go back the same way. The area at the shepherd's cottage towards Ramstindan is calcareous with a rich flora of i.a. Dryas. With the exception of the steep slopes on the T-trail up from the shepherd's hut, the hike is quite easy. There is little rock. The road is closed for regular driving.
