Combine a boat ride across a Hardangervidda lake with a short hike. The Halnekongen boat runs across Halnefjord Lake in July and August, taking you 13 kilometers across the plateau. The boat stops at two docks at the far end of the lake, and you can easily hike between the two. Make sure to pack a picnic and enjoy the raw nature at the edge of Hardangervidda National Park.
The cabin is 14.5 kilometres from Haugastøl, and 36 kilometers from Geilo, along Road 7. Coming from Eidfjord, the cabin is 30 kilometers east of Vøringsfossen.
The Halnekongen boat departs from the dock in front of the cabin. Check the timetable and prices. The boat ride takes about 40 minutes. If you take the morning departure you’ll have a but more time to explore on the other side.
Leave the boat at the Skaupa dock.
Starting from the dock, the trail passes over easy and flat terrain along the southern end of the lake to the Sleipa dock.
