About Hellandsnuten
Hellandsnuten is the highest mountain around the village of Sand, standing 747 meters above sea level. The trail to the peak is very steep in parts, so you need to best prepared for a tough ascent. From the peak there are far-reaching views of the Vindafjord and the Sandsfjord, along with a branch of the Ryfylke scenic route that winds along the coast.
Getting there
The trailhead is in Eide, in the northern part of Sand along Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke.
In Sand, follow Eidssjøvegen Road north to Eide and park by Joagarden barnehage.
Trail description
The signposted trail begins behind the parking lot next to Joagarden barnehage, leading into the woods.
Follow the road up until you meet an intersection with another dirt road. Follow this road up to the right and then take the next right turn.
Join the blue-marked trail further up. Parts of the trail here are quite steep as you ascend east towards the Hellandsnuten peak.
