About Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall

While not the biggest falls in the area, Steinsdalsfossen is a pretty and easily accessibly waterfall with a well-constructed path leading up behind the cascade. The path leads to a viewpoint where you can feel the power of the water pouring down the hillside.

Steinsdalsfossen is one of the many popular large waterfalls around Hardanger, along with Vøringsfossen and Låtefossen. The waterfall is located right alongside road 49 near Norheimsund, part of Norwegian Scenic Route Hardanger.

If you want to stretch your legs a bit more, combine the waterfall with a walk along Movatnet Lake.

Getting there

From Norheimsund, Steinsdalsfossen is a 2.5 kilometer drive west along road 49 (also known as Steinsdalsvegen). As you approach the falls from this direction, you’ll see them ahead of you on the right-hand side. There is good amount of parking available, but it can get busy in summer.
