Trail description

From the tourist office in Geilo town center, head towards the train station. Follow the road in the direction of Dr. Holm’s Hotel (the big white wooden building on the other side of the railway). Cross the railway by walking through the underground passage. Having passed the hotel, take the first road to the left, a wide graveled road running uphill (Slaattavegen).

Upon reaching the timber houses in the second bend in the road, either continue along Slaattavegen uphill towards Geilo Panorama cabin area or take the marked hiking trail running uphill to the right to Geilohovda.

If taking the hiking trail to the right, you’ll pass a grazing area. Keep to the left when the trail splits. You’ll see the Geilo Panorama cabin area down below. Continue uphill by following the signs for Pilvegen.

Soak up the splendid views of Geilo and the plains of Hargangervidda as you cross the slalom hills. Take a well-deserved break at one of the many benches by the ski lift at the top of Geilohovda.

Continue by walking under the bridge at the back of the ski lift, then walk straight ahead. Enjoy as the views open up again. Hike downhill by following the signs for Pilvegen. Reaching the viewpoint towards Geilo Panorama, choose whether to descend along the hiking trail or take Slaatavegen to the town center.
