Continue along the Vestsidevegen road for another 5.6 kilometers where you get to another junction. Just go straight ahead here and follow the road for another 6.5 kilometers where Slådalsvegen road starts on your left-hand side. This is the road that will take you across the mountain to Vågå.
For the next 11.5 kilometers, this graveled road ascends from 540 to 1,200 meters above sea level. The path takes you up above the treeline with Reinheimen National Park on your right-hand side, and you will probably meet many sheep on your way across the mountain.
