This is a fantastic trip with spectacular views in all directions in the mountains. Especially to the west to Hurrungane. The last 30 few meters until the beacon are very airy, but it is a brilliant hike if you don't go those.
You can start your trip from Eidsbugarden or Tyinholmen but many chooses to drive into Koldedalen until the boom barrier. From here, follow the marked trail to Uradalsvatnet. You wade the river and go to the northeast, on the west side of the pond 1461 meters above sea level and up to the top of 1582 meters above sea level. Here you find a nice resting place. Note the reddish-brown rock here. It is the rare rock ultrabasic rock, which is a characteristic type of the geology in Jotunheimen. Other than that the common rock here is pyroksengranulitt, which mostly consists of feldspar and pyroxene.
After a breather, go down to the beginning of the glacier. You are now embarking on a glacier hike. Here it is completely necessary to be in a rope team with knowledgeable guides. You keep to the right to the middle of the glacier and set the course for Uraknatten and turn into the saddle between Uranostind and Slingsbytinden mountain. Well into the rock, you can leave the rope team. From here head straight south into the north ridge of the "Uranos", on snow or talus until you get up on the sharp shelf that you have to pass if one wants to reach the cairn on the south side of the peak.
Then it's the same way back down again, unless you wish to climb an additional 2,000 meters peak since you are already here? The closest is Slingsbytinden, with light and airy climbing to the top.
Drive the Fv 252 to Tyinholmen. Turn left into Koldedalen at the hotel and follow the narrow road until the boom barrier.
