About Kyrkjistølen - Torolmen

The starting point is Kyrkjestølen/St.Tomas church by E-16 at Filefjell.

From the farm you pass the stone cabin on the south side, cross the stream on a bridge and follow the T-marked trail upward on the west side of the creek. After passing Kyrkjenøse the terrain flattens out with a wide view beyond the lake Slettningen and the surrounding landscape. In the west end of Slettningen, turn northeast. Cross the river by stepping on dry rocks. The trail rises along Slettningen with increasingly more magnificent views. The terrain along the west side of Austrefjordtjedne (1344-1353 meters above sea level) is flatter. Some rough talus must be passed at the edge of the pond. The vegetation is poor here, but the ferns parsley fern and alpine lady-fern act as greenery in the crude here. In the eastern end of Øvre Årdalsvatnet lake (1313 meters above sea level), there is a reindeer pit at the far side of the trail. Follow the trail further along the beach and over lichen heaths to the self-service cabin Slettningsbu. From here the T-trail goes east to Tyinstølen.

From Slettningsbu the trail goes mostly on sloping terrain down to Torolmen. Just before the main road you can see the sign to "Slettningsbu" and "Fondsbu". If you want to go to Tyinholmen or Eidsbugarden, you cross Rv. 53 and follow this or the old road on the north side and parallel to the main road approximately 900 m eastwards to the signs.
