About Ufarlege ormar på Tøso
The slow worm (Anguis fragilis) is actually a lizard without legs. Its movements are slow. It can grow up to 50cm long. The color is brown, gray or copper. The female has dark bands on the back and dark sides, while the male is more of a solid color. The species can be mistaken for snakes, but these can not blink. Slow worms live mostly in hiding under logs and stones and are most active morning and evening. It spends the winter in a frost-free place in the ground. Food contains mostly of snails and earthworms, but they also eat insects, spiders and centipedes.
It is uncertain how large the population is and where the slow worm has its habitats in Vang. But the species has in any case been observed in Tøso. The warm deciduous forest slopes on the northern side of Vangsmjøsa can provide favorable conditions for the species.
