The culture trail begins at the mouth of Vangsmjøsa and continues all the way up to the summer farms in the mountain. You pass by old crofts and hayfields that today are enriched with flower species such as Lady’s-hair and orchids. Further on, you arrive at the Sørre Hemsing farm.
The farm contains 8 buildings from the 17th to the 19th century that have recently been restored. Right above the farm, by the stream, you will find an old restored water mill. Continuing upwards, you follow the old road up into the mountain, which is how they brought their animals to the summer farms from the old days. Along the route, there are several information boards.
Sørre Hemsing can provide accommodation and meals upon request.
An out-and-back route takes you to a certain point, for example the peak of a mountain, before returning to the start along the same trail. Distance and duration calculations are based on the total trip.
A loop route, also known as a circuit, brings you back to the start while avoiding retracing your steps. Distance and duration calculations are based on the total trip.
A point-to-point route takes you from one location to another, without returning to the start. Distance and duration calculations are based on one-way travel.
