About Kviissyndin - Storehøvda - Langehage
A nice walk through the mountain hamlet Kviessyndin. After going up a small hill you find yourself on Langefønnkampe, facing Midtre- and Nørre Syndin towards Gilafjellet, Grindadn and mountains on the north side of Vangsmjøse. In flat, nice terrain towards Storehøvda, before the trail turns westwards and down the mountain birch forests towards Langenhage. From Langenhage a pleasant tractor road goes south along the beach and through Kviisstølane. The last 1½ km walk is on summer pasture road. The phyllite in the bedrock here allows for rich vegetation. Along the beach a number of plants grow that demand a high amount of nutrients, among others several orchid species. You can count on seeing and hearing the plover and shorebirds.
Starting point: You drive Syndisvegen from Ryfoss, stopping in an intersection by Åstadstølene, 400 meters before "Syndisstøga". Here is an information board and here the marked circular track starts.
