About Valdresflye - Torfinnsbu - Bygdin
The path from the hostel on Valdresflya (1389 meters above sea level) towards Bygdin follows the old route between Gudbrandsdalen and Valdres. It starts on the west side of Rv 51 and is marked "Torfinnsbu and Bygdisheim". The trail goes through flat and gently sloping terrain. After Øystre Fagerdalshøe and down to the river Breiløypa the trail can be somewhat soggy, especially after it has been raining. Be sure to have binoculars ready to take a closer look at the special mountain birds found here.
At the intersection on the path west of Øystre Fagerdalshøe, decide if you turn right towards Torfinnsbu, or west toward Bydisheim, or take off through Heimre Fagerdalen directly to Bygdin hotel. In the slopes down toward Bygdin there is rich mountain flora and east of the Synsbekknuppadn, pasqueflower grows in some places with dry gravel piles.
