The trip is full of panoramic views over valleys, lakes, peaks and glaciers.
The starting point is Torfinnsbu. You walk east along the lake until you have passed the bridge over Torfinnsdøla. Then you turn and follow the ridge northeast and up to Nørdre Kalvehølotind. There are some parts requiring easy climbing along the way. The plants thrive here in the south-facing hillside.
If you still have energy and would like to experience more beautiful mountain scenery, continue on from Kalvehølotind along the ridge north to Midtre Kalvehøgde, turn left and take the last steep ascent up to Vestre Kælvehøgde (2208 meters above sea level), the highest point in Valdres.
An alternate route down again goes straight south between Kalvehøgdbreene. You cross Kælveåne and at about 1300 meters altitude you turn west back to Torfinnsbu.
An out-and-back route takes you to a certain point, for example the peak of a mountain, before returning to the start along the same trail. Distance and duration calculations are based on the total trip.
A loop route, also known as a circuit, brings you back to the start while avoiding retracing your steps. Distance and duration calculations are based on the total trip.
A point-to-point route takes you from one location to another, without returning to the start. Distance and duration calculations are based on one-way travel.
