You'll be rewarded for all your hard work of hiking Tjeldbergtind, with truly spectacular views of not only Svolvær, Kabelvåg, and Vågan, but also the vibrant blue-green Vestfjord, and the mountains Svolværgeitathe and Fløyen.
The trail is easy to navigate and is very accessible. It's suitable for everyone, young children to active seniors.
The parking lot is less than a 10-minute drive from downtown Svolvær. From Svolvær, drive west on E10, before turning right at the Esso gas station. Take another right onto a small road, where there is a parking lot with the name of the hike: Tjeldbergtind. You can also part at Esso petrol station.
It's only a 15-minute bike ride west from downtown Svolvær.
From wherever you parked near the Esso station, hike along Kongsvatnveien for a few hundred meters before heading up the hill to your left. From there continue towards a large radio tower.
Upon arriving at the radio tower, you'll finally see a signpost for the start of the actual trail to Tjeldbergtinden. Soon thereafter, the trail becomes steeper and more challenging to hike. Be aware of your footing, especially if it's raining as there are many roots and rocks on the trail.
You'll first reach the eastern summit, where it's a great place to take a break before continuing on the 20 to 30-minute hike to the western summit. The western peak is very steep, so it's advised to enjoy the amazing view from near the peak rather than actually climbing on it!
