About Trolltinden
Trolltinden sits atop the mountain ridge that runs from north to south in the northern part of Andøya Island. The summit reaches 436 meters above sea level and offers views of both the western and eastern coasts. Just a short drive from Bleik on Andøya Island, the trail is pleasant and easy-going with a gradual ascent to the top.
The peak is home to a weather radar station, which serves as an easy reference point during the hike. It can be cold and windy at the top, so take warm clothes and windbreakers.
Getting there
The trailhead is located along Road 976, part of Norwegian Scenic Route Andøya.
Look for the small parking bay 3.5 kilometers south of Bleik by the corner of Storvatnet Lake. If that is full, there is a larger rest area with more parking at the southern end of the lake.
The trail starts across the road from the small parking bay.
Trail description
The trail is clear and well-marked.
From the roadside, follow the dirt road which winds up the mountainside. As you climb, you’ll be rewarded with views of Storvatnet Lake and Bleik.
You will quickly pass the treeline and enter open terrain. Follow the signs up to the top. Use the dome of the weather radar as a guide if need be.
