About Myklebusthornet

Myklebusthornet is the highest mountain on the Ellingsøya island, and definitely worth a visit. While at the top you get spectacular views over the Sunnmøre Alps. The hike is easy and is fitting for all people.

If you have hiked to Sukkertoppen, the hike to Myklebusthornet is a longer and less crowded option.

Getting there

From Ålesund drive north towards Vigra Airport on road 658. After you pass the subsea tunnel, you will reach a roundabout. In this roundabout turn towards Ellingsøya on road 107.

Continue for 2 kilometers until reaching another roundabout. Then choose the second exit towards Volstad. Drive for another 3,5 kilometers until you reach the stadium and parking to your right.

From the parking lot you should walk up to the stadium building and take a left around the building. Further on continue to the left of the field until you reach the trailhead.

Trail description

The first part of the trail is on a forest road. Further on you will reach a trail junction, where you go left underneath the power lines. The trail will continue along the ridge all the way up to Myklebusthornet.
