About Smørlirunden

Varied tour in prepared trails about 1,000 meters above sea level on the hill between Fagernes and Etnedal. The tour starts at Nythun and goes upward to Tveitastølen, where the trail flattens out and goes over swamp. Turn left at the crossings and embark on a new and longer climb up to Smørlifjellet (straight ahead in the next two trail crossings). Shortly before the highest point on the trail (cleft towards Binnhøvd) you can take a little detour off the prepared trail to Smørlitoppen with pleasant views. After the cleft follows a long, gentle descent towards Svarttjednet. Here is a nice sun spot in the amphitheater on the right hand. The trail to Danebu continues straight toward Fjeslitjern. Turn right here, up the hill and steep down to Pilset. Nice staking down Smørlia via Smørlitjern and slightly hilly terrain on the last two kilometers back to Nythun. End your tour with coffee and Valdres best homemade pastries at Nythun Fjellsute. Updated trail status: www.skisporet.no -> Østlandet -> Oppland -> Aurdal and Kruk Løypelag. Getting there: From Fagernes turn off towards Etnedal and Lenningen to Nythun Fjellstue (12 km). Parking at the lodge (fee).
