About Grindane

Everyone spending some time in Valdres should make a visit to the peak Grindadn with its characteristic profile just south of the lake Vangsmjøsa.

After parking your car, you start by walking over fine flat grassy land before the climb to the top begins. After the initial hump you cross a reindeer fence. Here the path turns east toward the top. A large gap in the mountain appear on your right side. It offers a spectacular view down to Grindatjednet. The peak is 1724 meters above sea level, and the views are breathtaking. A beautiful sight in all directions.

If you have time, you should not settle for having been at the main peak , but go further north to
Veslenibb ( 1667 m) or Storenibb ( 1674 m) to catch the beautiful view down to Vang center and Vangsmjøsa.

Getting there
Run off from E16 one kilometer east of Vang center by signs showing the way to Helin (toll road) and continue upwards into the woods. At the northern end of lake Helin you meet a cluster of mountain farms (Grøvstølen). Here you turn right (new toll road ) up the hillside until you reach Grindatjednet. Parking at the western end where you find the signs to "Grindadn ."
